It was a real pleasure to run my latest print workshop at Tre, Pol and Pen, a wonderful farm shop and restaurant based in Lezant, Cornwall.
A fantastic setting for a morning of creativity. We were blessed with a bright and sunny day so the room was flooded with light and ready to welcome the group of 10 workshop attendees.
I started the session with a quick run through of the block printing process and showed some examples of my own block printed gift wrap. We then moved on to creating designs for the blocks and then after some demonstrations the ladies set to carving their lino.
Once all of the blocks were carved we moved onto the final stage of the process and started printing the gift wrap. After a few test prints and experimenting with how much ink and pressure to apply the group excitedly started printing their blocks and loved seeing the colourful designs come to life on the sheets of paper.
The results were just wonderful. We had such a range of designs including leaves, tulips, roses, elephants, trees, wool, pineapples and a lovely art deco inspired pattern. The group did so well to finish their sheets of gift wrap and just in time to sit down for a delicious lunch.
