Session 1
Printmaking - Making A Mark
Length of session - 1 hr
key stage 2
This session will allow pupils to explore a variety of printmaking methods to create their very own original prints.
The focus of the session will be to explore the unique mark making that can be achieved through experimentation. Once the individual methods have been shown to the pupils the session will then have a real emphasis on creative play and freedom to experiment with the materials provided.
Pupils will use recycled materials from drinks cartons, egg boxes, string, netting and cardboard to create multi layer prints. They can play with texture, form and composition to create their hand printed landscapes.

Using water-based printing inks children will learn how to use rollers to apply the ink and then how to handprint their blocks. They will also get to try out a table top printing press. The finished prints can then be placed together to create a lovely display.
